Sydne Moseley
Sydne Moseley is a multimedia abstract painter and curator based in Chesterfield, Va.
With over seven years of professional experience, her artistic journey began as a creative outlet during her time as a student-athlete, evolving into a deep passion for artistic expression. Sydne earned her Bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA, in 2020. She went on to complete her Master of Fine Arts at Radford University in 2023. Currently, she is an art educator and is the owner of the studio gallery, Art by Moseley, a space designed to foster creativity and collaboration.
In her artistic practice, Sydne explores the intersection of painting and sculpture. Using a combination of acrylics and mixed media, she creates intricate, layered, non-representational abstract works. Her pieces transcend the boundaries of traditional canvases, forging a dynamic presence that expands into the spaces they inhabit. Each work reflects a piece of her personal journey, inviting viewers to connect and engage through her art.
“My artistic practice serves as a dynamic intersection of painting and sculpture, where I traverse the boundaries of these mediums. By harnessing a diverse array of materials and intertwining them with the versatility of acrylic paint, I create elaborate and multi-layered abstract compositions.
These creations, free from the conventional limitations of a canvas, transcend traditional confines. Instead, they inhabit and redefine the space they occupy. Through a meticulous layering process, I craft intricate textures and depths within each composition.
My approach liberates the artwork from the two-dimensional plane, allowing it to emerge and interact with its environment in a three-dimensional dance. This interaction with space becomes an integral part of the art itself. My paintings transcend their physical boundaries, and each piece has a unique dialogue between materiality, color, form, and space.”
